Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra Overview

Design and build

The Z Fold 8 Ultra has a thickness of just 8.9mm when closed and 4.1mm when opened. It weighs in at 215g — very light considering the size of the displays. It uses Advanced Armor Aluminum to provide strength; Gorilla Ceramic 3 is used to protect the cover display; and IP48 provides water resistance. There are four different colors to select from: Graphite, Cream, Violet Shadow, and Green Shadow (which is an exclusive color). To maintain its new appearance, you will want to purchase a case and screen protector.

Display

While unfolded, the Fold has an 8" Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display (QXGA+, 2504 x 2256). It provides a large amount of screen real estate similar to a tablet, allowing users to watch movies, read books/articles/documents, and run multiple apps side-by-side using the split-screen feature. When the Fold is closed, the 6.5" cover display (FHD+, 2520 x 1080) can be used as a primary screen for daily tasks such as texting, browsing the web, checking emails, etc. Both screens support a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz; therefore, the user will experience smooth scrolling and gaming. Additionally, both screens are able to produce up to 3,000 nits of brightness with the addition of Vision Booster for improved visibility in direct sunlight. A fingerprint sensor is located on the side of the Fold, which enables fast unlocking.

Performance

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy (3nm) is capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously, playing games efficiently, and performing on-device artificial intelligence smoothly. Users can opt for either 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and fast UFS 4 storage options ranging from 128GB to 1TB provide ample space to store apps and 8K video clips. Support for Samsung DeX enables users to connect their device to a monitor and experience a desktop environment, while connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 with aptX HD, and NFC ensure users remain connected. This makes the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy (3nm) an excellent option for professionals and content creators.

Software

The Z Fold 8 Ultra operates on One UI 9 powered by Android 17, and includes Galaxy AI tools such as Live Translate, Writing Assist, Transcript Assist, and Generative Edit. This software has been specifically designed to accommodate the large display of the device, making multitasking feel like second nature. Additionally, Samsung guarantees at least seven years of major Android updates and security patches.

Camera

The primary camera, a 200-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), will capture amazing levels of detail. The ultra-wide camera is a 50-megapixel sensor that will allow you to fit more of what you are viewing into the shot. The telephoto camera is a 10-megapixel sensor that has a 3 times optical zoom. This will help you get closer to your subject. There are two 10-megapixel front-facing cameras. One is located on the outside of the device, and one is located on the inside of the device. Both will provide the exact same selfie experience regardless of which screen you use.

Battery

The 5,000mAh battery allows you to stay connected throughout the entire day. For charging purposes, we offer 45W wired charging, as well as 20W wireless charging. Additionally, you may also charge your earbuds or smartwatch using the 4.5W reverse wireless charging feature. You can purchase a 45W fast charger, a wireless charger, or a power bank directly from us to use in conjunction with this device.
