Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a book-style foldable phone that features an 8-inch primary screen and a 6.5-inch secondary screen on its cover. While it measures just 8.9mm thick when closed and weighs 215g, we like that the phone is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor and includes a 200MP main camera and One UI 8 (with seven years of software updates). Additionally, the device offers IP48 water/dust resistance and a 4,400mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Overview

Design and build

At 8.9mm when closed and 4.2mm when open, the Z Fold 7 is thin enough to carry in your pocket, and at 215g it is relatively lightweight compared to other foldable phones. The Armor FlexHinge features a water droplet shape and a multi-rail architecture, which will help reduce creasing while enhancing overall phone longevity. The Advanced Armor Aluminum used on the phone is 10% stronger and more durable than previous versions; the cover display employs Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2; and the inner display employs a thicker version of Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) backed by a titanium plate. The IP48 protection provides resistance against liquid damage. Additionally, to provide added security, a heavy-duty protective case and screen protector are available.

Display

The 8.0-inch internal dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display (QXGA+) is able to change its refresh rate anywhere from 1Hz to 120Hz and can reach as high as 2,600 nits. This means that you will see all your movies, documents, and games clearly. The 6.5-inch external display features a 21:9 aspect ratio and HDR10+ support; therefore, you will be able to operate this device just as easily as you would with any other standard smartphone. Both displays provide a very smooth and bright viewing experience even when operated in direct sunlight. Additionally, the lateral-mounted fingerprint sensor allows users to access rapid unlocking.

Performance

The Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3nm) is capable of handling multiple applications simultaneously, as well as gaming and artificial intelligence (AI) functions. Depending on how much money you want to spend on RAM, you can purchase either 12GB or 16GB of RAM with up to 1TB of storage; therefore, there will be plenty of space available to download your favorite apps, store your photo/video files, etc. To stay connected, the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3nm) offers Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and eSIM capability. It is an excellent option for users who tend to use several different programs at once, create content regularly, and/or are very active professionally.

Software

The Z Fold 7 uses One UI 8 as its operating system. This is based on Android 16. It also includes Galaxy AI features designed specifically for the larger display. The AI Results View allows you to view AI-generated content in either a Split View or Floating View format. You may then move that content from one application to another. Gemini Live will understand everything you see, say, and do. Circle to Search will provide gaming tips exactly at the time they are needed. There are many other tools available to help make creating your own content easier, including: Photo Assist; Generative Edit; Audio Eraser; Drawing Assist; Writing Assist. Samsung has promised to provide updates for Android and security patches for seven years.

Camera

The 200MP primary sensor (ISOCELL HP2) provides incredible detail; the 12MP ultra-wide lens (120-degree) will provide more space for each shot; the 10MP telephoto lens will provide 3 times optical zoom. The ProVisual Engine by Samsung can process photos quickly, and Night Video will use smart motion detection to make low-light video look better. You have two 10MP selfie sensors, one on the cover screen and one on the inside screen with a 100-degree field of view.

Battery

A 4,400mAh battery will keep you connected all day. For charging, you can use either a 25W wired connection to charge up to approximately 50 percent of the phone's battery in approximately 30 minutes; Fast Wireless Charging 2.0; or Wireless PowerShare to charge your earbuds or smartwatch. Since the charging adapter is sold separately, we recommend purchasing a 25W Fast Charger, Wireless Charger, or Power Bank.

Who Should Buy It?

If you are looking for an 8-inch screen, a 200-megapixel camera, and a lightweight, thin foldable phone, then the Galaxy Z Fold 7 would be a good choice. I believe that this device would be a suitable option for individuals who multitask, create content, or simply wish to experience a "book-style" foldable device.
